Young Children’s Community (YCC)

15 months to 3 years

The environment within the Young Children’s Community is scientifically designed to support the development of movement, language, and independence within a social context.

The classroom conforms to the physical needs of the child from around 15 months (walking well) to around three years of age—both in size of the furnishings and in the opportunities for motor development. The environment is deliberately designed with defined spaces for self-care, language, sensory-motor, and practical life activities.

Classroom materials are designed to attract and engage the child, allowing them to build their own capacity for focus and concentration, laying the foundation for continued success, fulfillment, and love of learning.

Observing the YCC is an opportunity to see all of the aspects come together in a buzzing, fulfilling environment.

There are many who hold, as I do, that the most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when man’s intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed. But not only his intelligence; the full totality of his psychic powers.
